ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
Is your child’s imagination overflowing with characters and stories? Do they dream of visiting far off places? Participants will learn the basics of drama and channel their creativity in this theatre workshop tailored to beginners. “Lights, Set, Action!” is designed to teach the basics of acting out traditional African fables and modern day stories, participating in group scenes and performing in front of others. Gain a greater understanding of theater while learning the intricacies of performing through fun, theatrical warm-ups, character-building activities and teamwork exercises. Students will learn the ins and outs of acting with warm-up exercises, perform exciting scenes with fellow participants and develop strong stage presence through auditions, class presentations and reading comprehension.
The Theatre Summer Camp showcase day will be held on June 22 beginning at 11:00 AM.
About The Artists
Tiffany Bryant-Jackson began her life in theatre when she entered Elon University's theatre program in 1998. She made the move to Charlotte in 2006 and has been blessed to work with numerous local production companies. In all her pursuits she feels most passionate about sharing theatre with young audiences and introducing the stage to a diverse group of students. She believes every theatre experience is a seed planted and when nurtured will grow a community.
Andrea “Angie C” Chandler is a cultural arts program coordinator, theater artist and educator born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and Adolescent Education from Brooklyn College, and studied Theatre Arts in graduate school in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Chandler has taught middle and high school social studies and theater for over 10 years in public schools and takes great joy in creating opportunities for both artists and communities to engage in the arts in a meaningful way. Her mission is to cultivate culture to effect change.
