  • About This Program

During this special Black History Month program, we remember the lesser-known history of Charlotte with a guided tour of what's now a collection of premiere neighborhoods in the center city. Alexia Alexander, a North Carolina State University sophomore, created an 18-site digital map titled Charlotte's Lost Slavery History. Join us as Alexia leads this tour and shares results from her research with details that deepen your understanding of Charlotte's story.

All ages and backgrounds are welcome. We recommended wearing comfortable, warm clothing and bringing ample water for this 2-mile walking tour. Although there are 18 sites on the map, some may be omitted to keep the tour experience at 2 hours.
