  • About This Program

Enjoy a screening of Spike Lee's Malcolm X, followed by an audience discussion.

The final screening of the View The Right Thing series — in partnership with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library — presents Malcolm X, a 1992 film co-written and directed by Spike Lee. The film follows the story of pivotal activist Malcolm X via vivid depictions of major moments in his life. The film is an interpretation of Alex Haley's Autobiography of Malcolm X with classic directorial themes present in most of Lee's work. Following the film we will have an audience talk back, exploring the artistic choices of Lee, and how his work has influenced the culture.

The Malcolm X film is rated PG-13.
