  • About This Program

Join us for the opening celebration of the Gantt's newest exhibitions, Cherry: Khalif Tahir Thompson and YoYo Lander: Between the Quiet, Selected Works from 2019-2024. We are excited to host this free evening highlighting exceptional works by internationally renowned artists!

The evening will include savory bites and a panel discussion featuring the artists, YoYo Lander and Khalif Tahir Thompson, moderated by the Gantt's VP of Creative Direction, Dr. Anita N. Bateman.

Cherry, Thompson's second solo exhibition in the United States, features eight large-scale paintings that explore themes related to identity, memory, and emotion. Thompson creates layered compositions that invite viewers into intimate spaces, drawing from the artist’s personal experiences, family archives, and broader cultural narratives.

YoYo Lander: Between the Quiet, Selected Works from 2019-2024 presents a curated selection of figurative and experimental abstract collages from private and public collections around the country. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on vulnerability and the concept of presence while showcasing the ideological depth with which Lander approaches image-making.

Don't miss this amazing evening of artistic genius!
