About The Performing Artists
Mia Love Live is a Charlotte native poet, writer, producer and performer whose work blends storytelling, music, and faith. Beginning as a poet, her voice has grown into powerful one-woman theatrical experiences that transform personal truth into shared moments of reflection and healing.
She is the creator of This Is My Brain on Anxiety: The Detailed Experience of an Anxious, Black Woman, Sincerely Charlotte: A Love Letter to Old Charlotte, and Good News: A Redemptive Work. Through Mia Love Live Productions, she brings stories to life with vulnerability, purpose, and spiritual depth.
Mia is honored to share her poetic work at the Gantt Center, using storytelling as a tool for connection—creating space for people to come together, feel seen, and experience healing.
Braxton Bateman is a Charlotte-based trumpeter, bandleader, and creative force shaping the city’s modern jazz and R&B scene. A graduate of Northwest School of the Arts with roots in a strong musical lineage, he has performed across 30+ countries and shared stages with nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.
Known for blending jazz, neo-soul, and high-energy live performance, Braxton leads dynamic ensembles that bring a fresh, cultural pulse to every stage—from intimate clubs to major festivals. As the creator of experiences like Mo Betta Thursdays, he continues to expand Charlotte’s music scene while building a sound and movement uniquely his own.
Your support helps the Gantt present exceptional exhibitions, leading scholars and engaging programs that celebrate the African-American story.
