    Kick off Black History Month with a 4-part virtual discussion series on the history of southern Black art and culture. Yvonne Bynoe, author, lecturer and founder of on-line platform, @SheLovesBlackArt, will facilitate weekly interviews and panel discussions with artists and art enthusiasts. Programs for each week will hone in on diverse aspects of the impact of Black art on our culture, with a focus on the Black southern region of the U.S.

    This week's topic: In Conversation with Jamel Shabazz. Jamel Shabazz is the featured artist in the new exhibition Reflections of a People: Photographs from the Archive of Jamel Shabazz.

    Subsequent topics include Preserving Our Legacy: Black Art Collectors Roundtable (Feb. 9), Contemporary Black Artists and the Influence of Community (Feb. 16) and Supporting Artists and Helping Charlotte Thrive (Feb. 23).

    Yvonne Bynoe is the founder of @SheLovesBlackArt, an online media platform with over 32,000 followers worldwide that amplifies art from the African diaspora to collectors and art enthusiasts. The mission of @SheLovesBlackArt is to empower more Black Americans to enter the art market at all levels. Bynoe is a regular contributor to Black Art In America and is the author of several books on Hip Hop culture.
