Family First: Visual Storytelling Boards

This Family First workshop introduces participants to the art of visual storytelling through the creation of their own storyboards. Attendees will learn how to map out scenes, emotions, characters, and action using simple sketches and creative composition techniques. Whether inspired by films, comics, dreams, or personal experiences, participants will develop a short visual narrative that captures their unique imagination and voice. The workshop encourages creativity, problem-solving, and storytelling skills in a fun and supportive environment for artists and storytellers of all experience levels.

Shane Manier is a poetry coach, educator, visual artist, Tedx keynote speaker, trauma informed care instructor, and national spoken word poet based in the Charlotte metro region of North Carolina. She is the founder of Guerilla Poets, a nonprofit art collective and the founder of The National Poetry Month Summit, an online summit that connects and supports poets all across the US. She has been a live visual artist since 2012 and has a permanent artist in residency at Art & Soul Rowan. Her work is based in multimedia, utilizing symbolism and visual storytelling to explore new perspectives by connecting to the world around us.
