    About The Standard Jazz Series

    The Standard Jazz Series creates an opportunity for fans and students alike to enjoy, learn and explore the building blocks and instruments used in jazz music. Master class instructor Harvey Cummings II will invite participants of all levels to engage with the band as they trace the story of America's classical music – jazz – in a live performance workshop and discover everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-jazz with an Q&A session and interactive musical demonstrations.

    The afternoon will conclude with a teaching artist showcase of jazz music featuring phenomenal musicians for a unique blend of straight-ahead jazz and cool vibes. Get ready for an unforgettable, multi-sensory experience that unites contemporary elements with the rich history of jazz culture.

    About Harvey Cummings

    Charlotte native Harvey Cummings II is an award-winning saxophonist, pianist, songwriter, and producer. His unique sound blends jazz, hip-hop, and soul to create an incredible listening experience. His band, The Harvey Cummings Project is a driving force in today's modern jazz movement, performing for President Barack Obama, festivals and events.

    Since graduating from North Carolina Central University with two degrees in music, Cummings’ music has been featured on Cartoon Network’s "The Boondocks" and commercials for Allen Edmonds. His signature style is also the backdrop to numerous podcasts. Cummings has has been featured on many records and has performed live with hit artists such as King Mez, Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, Carlitta Durand, J Gunn and Elevator Jay. His debut project The Chicken Day EP is available on all major platforms.
