In partnership with Charlotte Art League
The Gantt Center is a proud participant in the Arts and Science Council’s annual Connect with Culture Day showcase. From the creation of a community quilt to an art-making collage workshop, there is something for the entire family to enjoy. Help preserve the stories of your neighborhood and connect with other residents during this day of culture, collaboration and creativity.
Program Schedule
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Drop-In Collage ActivityParticipants will collage ideas, words and images of things they want to see happen in Charlotte. These items will be overlaid onto pictures of various buildings around the city, including The Gantt Center and the new Charlotte Art League location.

Community ColoringCelebrate Charlotte’s 250th Birthday by letting your little ones color Charlotte the way they see it. Iconic images like Queen Charlotte, our CLT tourism logo and other images will come to life through coloring.

Guided Tours of our current exhibitions11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Community Quilt - What does community look like to you?Participants will draw, write, or paint how they feel about their communities or what they want to see there. The completed pieces will interlock to create a large quilt. Multiple sessions throughout the day.

Neighborhood DreamsIn this adaptation of a story circle participants will respond to prompts about their neighborhoods. A ball will move from person to person as they ask and answer questions about their neighborhood. Participants will also share hope and dreams for the City. Participants will then create an art piece to take with them that reflects their aspirations for their neighborhood. Responses will be collected digitally and shared with local agencies.
