Romare Bearden Exhibition Openings
September 2, 2011, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Costs: Free for Gantt Center & Mint Museum Members, $5 for non-members, RSVP required (limited seating)
You are encouraged to RSVP for this event

Join the Gantt Center, Romare Bearden's niece Deidra Harris-Kelley and exhibiting artists Radcliffe Bailey, Nanette Carter, Louis Delsarte, Wadsworth A. Jarrell and Larry Walker for the opening of three exhibitions celebrating Romare Bearden.

Romare Bearden Centennial Celebration

Let us transport you to Bearden's second home on St. Martin with Silver Tones Steel Band + sweet & savory Caribbean delights + wine & beer. Gantt Center and Mint Museum members enjoy free admission. $5 for non-members.

The Gantt Center exhibitions expand upon Bearden's collages by covering different territory within his artistic output. While exploring the African-American cultural elements that persisted in his collage-era work, the exhibits also explore the impact his success and creative excellence has had upon other African-American artists.

Paper Trail: Romare Bearden Works on Paper features rarely seen watercolors and prints by Bearden. In Romare Bearden: The Life, photographer Frank Stewart captures the artist in his studio; with prominent artists and cultural figures; during moments of introspection; and with friends and family. The work of painters, printmakers and mixed-media artists represent those who were influenced by Bearden in Beyond Bearden: Creative Responses.
