  • About This Program

Join us on November 15 for Art After Dark, an evening of music, conversation and creative expression. Our doors will be open late, so come enjoy the art for free.

    Here's the line up:

    6:00 PM - 10:00 PM – Galleries Open
Explore our current exhibitions. Guided tours @ the top of each hour.

6:00 PM - 9:00 PM – "Say It With Ya Chest"
Do you have an issue you're passionate about? A mantra you want to turn into art? Drop in throughout the night and create your own custom buttons, posters, and printmaking media using a variety of techniques (while supplies last).

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM – Question Bridge Roundtable - Black Artists Edition
Featuring Quentin Talley, Cedric Umoja, de’Angelo Dia, John Love Jr. and CHD:WCK. Black male artists from around the region discuss inspiration, process and navigating the art world.

8:00 PM - 9:00 PM – Ted Talks and Chill
Facilitated by artist & poet T. Walker. Dig deeper into the themes within our exhibitions by exploring short Ted Talk clips on gentrification, predatory lending and black male identity. Watch, Think, Respond.

    8:00 PM - 9:00 PM – Artists & Acquisitions
Join Gantt Center Artist-In-Residence Alvin C. Jacobs, Jr. and Gantt Center Collections and Exhibitions Manager Alexys J. Taylor for an art talk on the importance of museums acquiring the work of black artists, the Gantt’s permanent collection, and the business of crafting a life as an unconventional full-time artist.

    9:00 PM - 10:00 PM – UrbanSocial TV’s The Situationship Circle
Viewers are invited to sit in on conversations where creatives discuss their viewpoints on intimate topics like: relationships, sexuality, politics, religion, careers, and so much more, to encourage healing, understanding, and a platform where people can speak their truth.

End the evening with dancing and cocktails as we celebrate our common humanity through the arts.

Food truck and cash bar available throughout the evening.
