Archive Your Legacy: Photo Scanning Session is a workshop series that teaches practical tips for preserving and caring for photographs and paper documents. Participants are invited to bring photo albums, printed photographs, letters and other memorabilia.

About The Artist

Monika Rhue (Nooma) is currently serving as the Director of Library Services and Curation at the James B. Duke Memorial Library, Johnson C. Smith University. Mrs. Rhue’s work experiences include library management, grant writing, teaching basic archival instruction, serving as an archival consultant, conducting oral histories, museum curation, and managing information literacy training.

Mrs. Rhue has served on the History Makers advisory board and the planning advisory team for 2018 Harvard Radcliffe Workshop on Technology and Archival Processing and was the plenary speaker for the 2018 Rare Books and Manuscripts Section conference in New Orleans. She also serves as an archival consultant for the State Archives of North Carolina Traveling Archivist Program and 2017-2019 Board Chair for HBCU Library Alliance.

Mrs. Rhue is the author of Organizing and Preserving Family and Religious Records: A Step-by-Step Guide; Dress the African Way: An Activity Book for the Family and a contributing writer to ACRL publication, Creating Leaders: An Examination of Academic and Research Library Leadership Institutes. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Johnson C. Smith University and Master of Library and Information Studies degree from UNC-Greensboro. Her current projects include partnering with Arts and Science Council Culture Blocks to capture and preserve the rich heritage of the Northwest Corridor neighborhoods.
